現在中國正在經歷一個特殊時期。因為疫情的關系，一年級的老師們還在春節假期的時候就**時間意識到，原定假期結束后，上海燎原雙語學校所有教職員工都不會按計劃返回學校。

There is a Chinese proverb about it being a blessing to live in interesting times and these are certainly interesting times. The Grade 1 team first became aware while we were still on our Chinese New Year vacation that we would not be returning as planned to school after the holidays.

教職員工不能按計劃返校，那么學生們到了開學該如何學習呢?學校的老師們分散在世界各地。在這種情況下，針對性地搜集資料來組織教學對每個老師來說都有難度。

學校很快制定了預案，用**的努力組織資源，來幫助燎原學生更多地了解特殊時期的學習準備情況。這的確要求學校方面迅速反應，要求老師們腳踏實地。

Plans were quickly drawn up without resources and we made a game plan to help our students understand a little bit more about what was happening and why it was happening to the best of our ability. This has required us to be quick responders and nimble on our feet.

本來在放假的老師們都開始了緊急“在家辦公”的狀態。從一月中旬開始，教師們每天就在不停歇地進行遠程平臺操作培訓。到目前**，絕大部分老師們都成功地學習并熟悉了兩個新的遠程教學平臺，而且都運轉良好。

燎原老師們也為學生準備了一些可供孩子們在休息時間可以遠離電腦的小課程，并且所有老師都會保持跟學生溝通，與學生聊天得知這個假期有很多人還在家鄉和家人在一起，有些在海外，更多的是在上海自行居家隔離。

We have managed to learn not one but two new platforms and neither has crashed at the time of this document being written.

We are serving out students in short spurts of lessons with break time to get away from the computers.

It has been very interesting talking to them, some still with their families in their hometowns, some overseas and some quarantined here in Shanghai.

就我個人而言，雖然疫情還未過去，但我一直都保持樂觀的心態。小區門衛一直樂于助人，體貼周到，他們像平日一樣經常跟我打招呼。當我需要了解新的信息時，作為居民的我和小區**人員會努力溝通，他們每天在門口排查，我能感受到他們的辛苦，也感謝他們努力保衛我們的安全。

Personally, I have had nothing but positive experiences. My compound guards have been helpful and caring. They are more likely to wave and greet me these days. We are working together to communicate when I need to know new information and I appreciate their efforts.

無獨有偶，17年前非典疫情盛行的時候，我也在上海，現在的“新冠”又是另一種傳播性極強的流行病。

殊不知， “新冠”剛剛在我的祖國加拿大又被確診了一例，而且是離我家只有十分鐘車程的醫院里。朋友和家人擔心極了，他們希望我能和他們在一起。

但我覺得現在在上海的一切更重要，我不僅可以支持我的學生和社區，還能和教師同事們相互幫助探究線上課程平臺“新技能”。

有很多老師們還遠在國外，他們很快會回到上海加入戰隊。戰斗從為期14天的隔離開始，這會是人生中非常特殊的經歷。

This is has been trying. I was here during SARS and this seems to be taking on a different kind of epidemic. While my friends and family worried about my well being a case of Coronavirus was found in the local hospital 10 minutes from my family home in Canada.

They would like me to return home but I feel it is important to be here. Not only can I support my students and my community I can support my coworkers who arriving back and may be beginning their 14 day quarantine.

Many of us on staff live on our own and it is a different kind of trying.

希望大家都能盡快回到想念已久的學校。希望大家身體健康，繼續響應號召努力隔離把新冠狀病毒控制住!

I hope we all return to school promptly. I hope we are all healthy and continue to do our best to keep the Coronavirus at Liaoyuan at bay!
