5月9日，光華美高迎來了第八期英語公眾演講。本場演講由十年級的付之裔主持，選手分別是來自九年級的程同學、劉同學、黃同學和陳同學，本期話題既有大家熟悉的籃球和音樂，也有日常生活中的一些常見的社會現象。同學們在擅長的話題領域滔滔不絕地演講，贏得了現場觀眾的陣陣掌聲。

程同學

程同學的演講與體育運動息息相關。眾所周知，中國在乒乓球上的成就領先。自1959年獲得**個世界冠軍以來，中國一直*攬各項國際乒乓球賽事的獎杯。對此，他分析了這種現象的原因：一是乒乓球是一種平民運動，老少皆宜，全民參與度高;二是國家注重乒乓球運動員的培養，因而人才濟濟，方能在賽場上叱咤風云。此外，他還對比了中美兩國籃球的體制，剖析美國籃球運動更強而中國較弱的原因。此外，他還結合自身經歷，指出部分國內的體育運動與金錢利益緊密相關，因而中國無法從體育大國變成美國那樣的體育強國，希望通過我們這一代的努力能改變這種現狀。

Unlike china, the biggest feature of American system is its popularization. Children would receive formal technical instruction at the beginning and would be selected to move to higher level matches, this mode like a pyramid. Moreover, the American competitive mechanism is based on school education. They are different stages on the same track of the same system. In the United States, this system is so mature that it can successfully balance sports development and academic education at the same time. Just as you know, Jason is from UCLA, UCLA is a traditional sports school, I believe he must have a deep understanding of it. This is how sports can be totally integrated into their blood. To sum up, there is no way for china to develop into a leading country like the US if it still holds on to its traditional patterns and I sincerely hope that we can do something to change this situation.

劉同學

劉政同學主要圍繞壓力這個主題展開演講，一提到壓力，很多人就會想逃避，似乎壓力就是人類的克星。但他認為那些每天只強調、追求和推廣正能量，而否認負能量的人其實很可怕，真正的負能量不是來自我們的壓力，而是來自我們的態度。同時，他指出那些認為壓力對自己有害的人的死亡可能性偏高，反而那些認為壓力有益的人，不僅沒有增加死亡率，而且變得更健康。這是一個值得深入思考的問題，希望大家能夠客觀地看待壓力，**在壓力中砥礪前行。

Kelly came to the conclusion that what's really bad about stress is never the stress itself, but the idea that we think it's bad. but after the effects of stress, it's our physiology that changes. This is your heart. No matter what you think of stress, everyone's heart beats faster in the face of stress, but cardiovascular function varies widely. The two images on the right are cross-sectional images of the two blood vessels. People who feel that stress is bad for their health begin to experience a contraction of their cardiovascular system in addition to their heart rate. In the long run, it's hard not to think of cardiovascular problems. Those who did not see stress as a threat kept their blood vessels relaxed in the face of stress, even though their hearts beat faster.

黃同學

黃赫揚同學分享了在現代音樂中廣泛流行的電子音樂。他指出，近年來，電音幾乎取代了傳統音樂，成為了深受大眾喜愛的音樂風格。具體來說，電音不僅分為很多不同的種類，每種電音都有獨特的聽覺效果，而且一部分電音的創作也融入了惟妙動聽的純音樂。此外，電音分布十分廣泛。例如好萊塢電影就偏愛用電音作為背景音樂，尤其是在動作電影里，刺激的電音和炫酷的視覺相結合可以給觀眾帶來極致的觀影體驗。他坦言，聽電音是一種不錯的自我放松方式，當然也建議大家可以嘗試一下這種解壓方式。

The electronic music is also called EDM(Electronic Dance Music). At present, most of the electronic music we are exposed to is electronic dance music, which is abundant in vitality and popular with young people. Electronic music is widely used in today’s popular music and popularly received among young people nowadays. In broad sense, all the music is created by electronic timbre, especially in contemporary age. Movies’ soundtracks usually use electronic music, for they share a lot of traits in common. Just imagine how enjoyable to be surrounded by the music when you are watching the movie! Besides movie soundtracks, electronic music is also combined with songs, and even some pop music, pure music. Therefore, electronic music gradually becomes known to people.

陳同學

陳菲陽同學主要以同性戀以話題，闡述了現如今大眾對一些只對同性產生愛情的人群的*容度十分有限，甚至一些網絡平臺都封殺了相關的內容。在她看來，人人都有追求幸福的自由和權力，因而希望大家更多一份理解，多一份*容。

This is the rainbow flag that represents the gay pride and gay social movement, and is also used as a symbol of gay pride in the gay rights movement. Red represents life, orange represents healing, yellow represents sunlight, green represents nature, blue represents harmony, and purple represents spirit. When the rainbow flag is flying horizontally, the red stripes are generally at the top, just like a natural rainbow.

伴著主持人嘹亮的聲音，本場四位同學均取得了不錯的成績，劉同學憑借穩定出色的發揮拿下了本場的**名。不知不覺，我們的英語演講已經持續兩個月了，同學們變得更自信了，臺風越來越穩了，演講越來越出色了，相信光華美高的莘莘學子不僅可以自信地站在校園里的演講臺上，而且在未來找到屬于自己的精彩舞臺，大放光彩!
