High school is a good place for us to cultivate interest. Liao Yuan Bilingual School has many different kinds of electives for students to choose, like literature, sports, arts, science and life skill. Every student can find the elective they like, music, kendo, debate, skateboard, football, dance and so on.

我是十年級三班的陸兆兗。我選擇了音樂和辯論作為我的選修課。下面就為大家介紹一下這兩門選修課。

I am Frank from G10-3. I choose music and debate as my electives.

音樂

在音樂選修課學生需要加入學校的樂隊。學生也可以自己建立一個樂隊。而我加入了一個由 Amy 所創建的樂隊。每周一和周三我們都會有樂隊排練，音樂老師則會幫助我們排練。老師非常的厲害，他會很多的樂器。當我們在排練的過程中遇到的問題他總能幫助我們解決。在樂隊中我們可以學習到很多音樂的技巧，當然最重要還是學習到了團隊合作的技巧。團隊交流，領導力，以及想法的共享。這些技能都會在我們日后的學習和**生活中起到很大的作用。

In the music elective, students need to join a band in the school. Students cancreate music bands themselves. I join the band created by Amy. Every Monday and Wednesday, we have band rehearsal. Our music teacher will help us at that time. He is very nice. He can play many musical instruments and he can always help us when we have problems. In the music band, we learn many skills about music, and most of all, skills of teamwork, communication, leadershipand cooperation, which are definitely helpful to our future.

辯論

在辯論課上我們可以跟隨Mark學習到很多的辯論技巧。在辯論課上學生們可以自己選擇想要的辯題然后分成兩組進行辯論。而Mark會在辯論的每一個環節給我們提供幫助，告訴我們辯論的技巧。辯論對于現在的學生是一個非常有用的技能。辯論并不是和對方吵架，而是一個給予學生一個表達自己觀點的舞臺。辯論能夠鍛煉我們的口語能力，思維能力和反應速度。當你有強大的辯論能力的時候就可以參加各種辯論比賽，那是一個鍛煉自己的機會。而且如果在比賽上得獎那會為今后的大學申請提供幫助。

The best elective EVER!!!! Yes!!! At the debate class, we can study debate skills with Mark. Students can choose the topic they like and have a debate with others. And Mark will help us when we debate. Debate is a very useful skill for thestudents. Debate is not quarreling with others. It is a stage for the students to express their own standpoints. It can train our tongue skill, ability of thinking and reaction speed. We can join the debate competition when we have mastered good debate skills. It is a chance to train yourself. If you got the ranking atthe debate competition, it is good for your interview for university

圖書館

如果學生在某個時間段沒有選修課的話可以去圖書館自習。學校為學生提供了電腦來查找資料。如果學生遇到問題的話可以和其他人一起討論或者找那里的老師尋求幫助。這是一個給予學生的良好學習環境的地方。

If students do not have elective at that period, they can study in the library. Students can use the computers in the library to search for information to support theirstudy. If you have problems, you can talk to other students or turn to your teachers for help. It is really a good place for students to study.
