生存還是毀滅，這是一個值得深思的問題。在偌大的地球上，人類的生存是否也逐步受到威脅?或來自于惡劣的環境，或來自于匱乏的資源，或來自于黑暗的人性……到底是什么在影響著我們的生存，我們又該何去何從，光華美高本期演講話題圍繞著“節約是否是人類生存的關鍵”展開。

本場**位選手許同學認為保護環境對我們來說至關重要。如果我們保護自然環境，那么就不會發生太多的自然災害。例如若人類有節制地伐木，洪水和沙塵暴發生的次數就會顯著減少，直接的損失也會降低。

I think if we protect the natural environment and prevent its deterioration,there wouldn’t be too many natural disasters.For example,if we don’t cut trees too much, there won’t be too many floods and sandstorms.It losses to us will also be reduced.Moreover, people die every year as a result of floods.So it is important for us to protect the environment.2

曾同學

第二位選手曾仕豪同學指出人類的過度浪費和消耗資源直接導致了生態環境的惡化。目前，可用的資源日漸減少，而垃圾卻越來越多，旅行垃圾、海洋垃圾無處不在，環境形勢不容樂觀。所以我們要種植樹木，保護生態環境，為人類的延續貢獻一份力量。

Nowadays, survival environment has been destroyed by human’s overuse and wasting the natural resources. The wasting of resources is not good for our subsist. The resources nowadays are decreasing day by day, but the waste that we produced is increasing day by day. There’s a variety kind of trash in the ocean, Such as plastic bag and fruit core， which cause a great damage to the environment. Second is because the destruction of environment, we need to plant tree to make sure human being can be existed on this plant Earth.3

第三位選手程昊原同學認為地球是我們賴以生存的家園，保護環境是當前刻不容緩的重任。他從兩個角度加以闡述：**、地球資源大多數是不可再生的;第二、環境污染嚴重影響了我們的生存，特別是各種垃圾。所以，如果我們不采取保護措施，珍貴的地球資源會慢慢消失，任何生物的延續都是不可能的。

If we don’t conserve, the earth resources will slowly dwindle and finally vanish, Biological species on earth are valuable non-renewable natural resources.

吳同學

第四位選手吳天澤同學從人與自然的角度來討論節約是否是人類生存的關鍵，他先以知名美國動畫《南方公園》為例，引出我們到底該如何維護人與自然的關系，再對人和地球進行比較，進一步論證我們環保的方式不應該是“保護”和“挽救”而應該是“節約”。

I think, we, human, are a part of great wisdom. But we will never understand a higher order, which is called “nature”. It doesn’t punish, It doesn’t reward, It doesn’t judge, It just exists. But if we try to control or damage it, Something follow this order will kick our ass, like famine, drought, and green house effect. Let us do some conservation! For a brighter future; for our offspring can still know that how beautiful our planet is; for humans can still living on this blue gorgeous planet!5

葉同學

第五位選手葉正同學從水資源說起，占地球表面積79%的物質是水，但這不意味著水是無窮盡的。生活中有很多浪費水的行為，例如刷牙和洗臉時不關水龍頭，很多人對此習以為常。但是，世界上還有許多嚴重缺水的地方，在那里，水甚至比金錢還珍貴，因而他認為保護水資源是非常必要的。

At the first of all, let me talk about the recourses of water. As you know, in our earth the proportion of the area--- 79% of water, and only 21% of land. Many people may say that we still have so much water. But the truth is that we don’t use much water. In our life, there are many behaviors that waste water. Those action both are very normal. Such as: brush your teeth and wash your face without touching the faucet, there is a lot of water wasted here. Although, someone think there is no shortage of water in your hometown or this city Shanghai. Have you ever thought about how many places in the world are short of water? In some places they can even see water as money, because water is very precious. I think it is very necessary and crucial to protect water resources. If we don’t have water, I don’t know what our life will look like in the future.6

付同學

第六位選手付之裔同學指出一個小男孩也知道廢紙盒能用來做“機器人”，但成年人的鋪張浪費在生活中卻比比皆是。資源總是有限的，有效的管理和利用是我們應該慎重考慮的問題。我們的地球正在經受的壓力，因此節儉才是生存之道。

Conservation. It’s a necessity. It’s a daily necessity. But it’s a special kind of necessity, because it’s a necessity that depends on us, human beings. I believe that it is a topic that is familiar to each and everyone of you. Basically, thrift is a concept where you reduce, reuse and recycle.

本場六位同學在演講中一致認為節儉才是人類生存和延續的根本。地球上的資源不是取之不竭、用之不盡的，不要因為今天的鋪張浪費而斷送了美好的明天。最后，付之裔同學憑借優秀的發揮，力壓群雄，拿下了本場演講的**名。
