世界很大，七大洲四大洋大到無邊無際;世界很小，有時一個轉身便可遇見。在你眼中，這個世界是什么模樣呢?光華美高本期演講話題就圍繞著“當今世界是不是變小了”這個話題展開，大家結合自身經歷，各抒己見，在臺上一展風采。

盧同學

本場**位選手盧同學認為世界可以很大，但也可以很小。一張世界地圖上有兩百多個國家和地區，對于渺小的人類來說，世界已經很大了。然而，現在發達的技術又使我們生活在一個小世界里，人與人之間容易產生距離感而疏遠。一項調查顯示，人的一生最多認識三千人左右，而世界上有77億人。有人說這世界大到都沒有遇見對的人，小到直到有一天遇到了那個人就會覺得這世界很小。

However, most of people will say the technological advancement now allows us to live in our small world. We are squeezing into our short days as many activities, browsing as much information, and interacting briefly with as many social relationships as we can. It can definitely be true that people use the technology to close up and have conversation easily. In the meantime, even with advanced technology, people will be easy to produce some sense of distance too. Gradually after a long time will be estranged, which can cause embarrassment when people assemble together. Looking at the phone is the only option for them to relieve the embarrassment. They say they have no desire for communication. This happens not only on the subway, but also can be seen frequently in daily life.

第二位選手陳同學對于當今的世界是否變小的問題持贊同的態度，他認為世界之所以變小，一方面是因為因特網的發展，即使相隔萬里的人也可以通過視頻通話，不覺疏遠;另一方面就是交通的發展，縮短了世界各地的距離。

For example, if you want to go USA for a holiday, you can go there by airplane. It is really fast, isn’t it? You can travel a half of the Earth for only 12 hours. If this thing happened in many year ago. You had better not to think the travelling. Because it is impossible for us ,when you arrive at the USA, not only your holiday was due, but possibly you have also grown up for 1 year old.

第三位選手郭同學認為世界比我們想象中的還要小很多。比如在路邊行走,也許只是無意間的一瞥,就會見到一張張熟悉的面孔。隨著時代的急速變化，那些曾經在街上吆喝賣報的小哥已經成為了老一代的回憶。當今社會,科技高度發展,想與遠在天邊的友人敘舊,只需要小小的單擊發送就能做到，遙遠的距離已不再是距離。

In this day and age, we call ‘earth village’. That meaning is very clear. Our earth just like a small village. We can easily go to other places just like in a village, made possible by convenient science. But in ancient, it’s impossible to think about it. At that time, people go out by horse, go aboard. Don’t need to think about it, it’s impossible.

第四位選手聞同學認為世界的大小是相對的。即使在同一所學校，我們也不可能認識所有的人。然而，我們卻可以知道來自地球另一端的消息。舉例來說，世界很大，紅軍長征用時兩年只走了兩萬五千公里，而如果我們繞地球走一圈，大概需要三千年;世界很小，但如果我們借助飛機等交通設施就可以大大縮減時間了。

Thirdly, on personal aspect, the world is also very small. There are 7.6 billion people in the world. However, we can meet here. Even in the future, we can meet each other on other side of the ocean. There is a very old sentence in ancient China. A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near.

第五位選手馮同學首先提問“為什么我們的世界這么大?”首先，由于人工智能的發展，很多**或**被機器取代，這意味著人們有更多的時間探索更多的領域。其次，人工智能技術幫助我們發現世界，從而使世界變得越來越大。總而言之，她認為世界的大小不是由它的物理面積決定的，它不是簡單的1.489億平方公里的數字，而是由人類的創造力決定的。

Why our world is big these days?Firstly, because of the development of AI, lots of jobs or works have been replaced by machines, which means that people have more time to think about other things and explore more fields.Secondly, ai technology helps us discover the world, therefore making it bigger and bigger.All in all, i think the size of the world is not determined by its physical area, it is not simply number like 148.9 million square kilometers, instead, it is determined by human’s creativity, just like the above-talked- artificial intelligence, it opens a new world for human. So it is not appropriate to say that our world is too small these days.

第六位選手曾同學談到世界的大小，她**件想到的就是總會在一個地方遇到特別的人，特別的事，這時總會說一句“這世界真小呀!”而經歷了人生不同的風景后，每個人會對世界的大小有一個新的定義。世界可以很大，也可以很小。大的讓你窮奇你的思緒，小得卻讓你與普通人與塵埃沒有絲毫的區別。世界真的很小，好像一轉身，就不知道會遇見誰。世界真的很大，好像一轉身，就不知道誰會消失。

Almost any two strangers, selected at random from anywhere in the world, may well be linked by an amazingly small number of people.The world is big and small, big enough to make you poor strange your thoughts, small enough to let you and ordinary people dust without the slightest difference.
