今年四月份上海燎原雙語學校英文部的學生再戰滑鐵盧全球數學競賽(Fryer, Galois and Hypatia)。近日，讓人期待已久的競賽結果終于出爐!

In April of this year, students from the English Department of Liaoyuan Bilingual School participated in the Waterloo Mathematics Contest (Fryer, Galois and Hypatia). Recently, the competition results have finally come out!

祝賀王同學獲得九年級Fryer競賽TOP 25%獎狀、獎牌， 林昊宇獲得十年級Galois 獎牌，鄒明陽獲得十一年級Hypatia競賽TOP 25%獎狀、獎牌。

Congratulations to Johnny Wang for winning the TOP 25% certificate and medal in the 9th grade Fryer competition, Alex Lin for winning the 10th grade Galois medal, and Oz Zou for winning the TOP 25% certificate and medal in the 11th grade Hypatia competition.

九年級Fryer競賽TOP25%獎狀、牌獲得者

通過這次數學競賽，我學到了很多東西。首先，這次比賽使我獲得大量的代數知識,這有助于我更好地理解代數。與此同時，我從來沒有想過數學可以這么有趣，在比賽的問題方面并不復雜和無聊。此外，它也開闊了我的視野，因為每一個問題都與我們的生活有關，這是我從未見過的。所以，這次比賽確實讓我受益匪淺，我希望更多的學生能參與進來。

Through this mathematics competition, I have learned a lot. To begin with, this competition has allowed me to obtain a great deal of knowledge about algebra，which helps me to understand algebra better. At the same time, I have never thought of that math could be so interesting,and the problems in the game are not complicated and boring. In addition, it also broadens my horizons, because every problem is related to our lives, which I have never seen before. Therefore, this competition really benefited me a lot, I hope more students can participate next time.

十年級Galois競賽獎牌獲得者

2017年進入燎原學習之后，我**次接觸到了滑鐵盧數學競賽，此后的每一場考試我都從不缺席。

After attending Liaoyuan Bilingual School in 2017, I first came into contact with the Waterloo Mathematical Competition. I have never been absent from every exam since then.

學習中的"氧氣"就是毅力和熱情。越充足的毅力和熱情越能使學習得心應手。"只要工夫深，鐵棒磨成針"這句話無論放在何時都不會過時。學習需要有持之以恒的決心和勇氣，一點一點地，扎扎實實地學習，思考，再學習，日積月累，才能真正從量變轉化為質變。尤其像數學這樣的理科，只有不斷地做題與反思才是獲取成績的王道。在這次的競賽里，讓我感受最深的就是填空題**道的關于數列的題目。數列和不等式一直是我的薄弱環節，剛開始的時候甚至拿到題目根本無從下手。后來也是在慢慢一點一點在做題的過程中發現了一些解答規律和技巧。我選擇了競賽，就不能只是抱著玩玩而已的心態，既然選擇了，就要對自己的選擇負責。前面還有很多題目要做，還有很多路要走，但我會記得我最初為何選擇了它，我不會使自己在茫茫書海中迷失了最初的方向。永遠不要放棄對成功的希望。

The oxygen of learning is perseverance and enthusiasm. The more perseverance and enthusiasm you have, the more likely you will succeed in your studies." No matter when it is put, the saying "if you work hard, you can grind an iron bar into a needle." Learning requires constant determination and courage. Especially for mathematics, only by constantly doing problems and reflection can we succeed. In this competition, what impressed me most was the number sequence problem in the first blank filling question. I am not very good at topics about numbers and inequalities. At the beginning, I even had no way to start with the problem. Later, I found some rules and skills in the process of doing the problem slowly. I chose to participate in the competition and take it very seriously every time. There are still many questions to be solved in the future, and there is still a long way to go, but I will remember why I chose it at the beginning, and I will not let myself lose my original direction in the sea of seals. Never give up hope for success.

十一年級Hypatia競賽TOP25%獎狀、牌獲得者

這一次對于滑鐵盧的再次得獎，對我而言即使意料之外也是意料之中的。意料之外是因為有一道題目做的比較倉促，而意料之中是因為我對這次考試有充分的準備。

This time, once again, the award for Waterloo is both unexpected and expected. Unexpectedly, there was a rush of a topic, and it was expected that I was fully prepared for the exam.

我覺得我對于數學的學習可以用一句話來總結：三分靠天賦，七分靠努力。

I think the success of winning the Maths competition is resulted from my talents and hard-working.

三分靠天賦是因為很幸運地，我對理科有著濃厚的興趣和天賦，很多時候自學題目和書本就能略懂一二。在班級里只要是和理科有關的譬如數學物理化學一類，我都會研究透徹然后給同學講解輔導，自己學好之余也會盡力幫助同學們理解知識。

Fortunately, I have a strong interest and talent in science. Many times I can often master topics by self-study. In the class, as long as it is related to science, such as mathematics and physical chemistry, I will study thoroughly and then explain the concepts to my classmates who need help. I will try my best to help my classmates understand the topics.

七分靠努力是因為老師的輔導和我自己的努力用功。每次臨近考試我都會復習到十點半甚至十一點，把書上和以往試卷上的題目重新看一遍，看懂了之后就會馬上休息，帶著比較好的狀態迎接考試。我對于理科知識的積累在這次考試也幫助了我很多。在平時我會不由自主的閱讀關于數理化相關知識的文章，在高一時就對高數，微積分，量子物理，有機化學都略知了一二，懂得了其中概念，在臨近學習的時候難題也都會迎刃而解。

However, my hard works and the helps from my teachers play a very important role to my success in this contest. I always spend a lot of time studying for the exams. My accumulation of science knowledge also helped me a lot in this exam. I always read articles related to mathematics, physics and chemistry. I have known a little about high Numbers, calculus, quantum physics and organic chemistry since I was a freshman in high school and I have understood the concepts. It helps me solve the problems during the tests.
