Hi, my name is Kim Ling. I come from Jiangxi. I have been in Shanghai since I was born. I cannot help regarding that Shanghai as my second hometown.

Now I take this as a great honor to introduce to you my amazing school. I want to express that I am very glad to study in this school. Troubled with my Hukou issue, I could not go to public high school in Shanghai. At that time, I felt extremely frustrated and lost. There were a lot of questions in my heart, what could I do, where should I go, etc.

Finally I found Liaoyuan International School. First of all, Liaoyuan is really a big surprise for me. Before I came to Liaoyuan, I was very nervous when teachers ask me answer questions in class. I thought I didn’t think I was confident enough to answer questions. So I was always very quiet in domestic classes. However, the classes in this school are much more stimulating than I thought. This school is so different from domestic schools.

Secondly, the atmosphere in this school is active and friendly, you will never have the feeling as nervous as you study in domestic’s. And the classes in this school make my brain refreshing and give me motivation to study. They are both educational and entertaining. They motivate students’ enthusiasm of learning. I gain a better understanding and have a solid mastery of specialized knowledge because of their surrounding. This school really changed my personality, I began to speak out my opinions confidently and explain my thought loudly. Besides, I gradually developed a sense of responsibility. Here you can have your own club and your own group. In order to let your group become better, you have to pay more of your time and energy, then you can have some unforgettable experience.

Here is the third point, it does not matter if your English is good or not. I was also worried about my English before. I doubted myself about whether l could follow their classes. Nevertheless, my worry turned out to be unnecessary. As I said before, our school is so different from domestic schools. It aims at enriching our social skills and fulfill our potential. It does not care only about our score, it also cares about our skill development. Our school will help you to practice your skills from different ways. It has a diverse curriculum to broaden our minds and experiences.

Consequently, I get what I really want here! Knowing what you want is very important, it will become your motivation for the rest of your life. My school life helps me to find what I really want. Now I am trying my best to realize my wish, my university![!--empirenews.page--]

Hello, everyone! I'm Kevin Wang and studying in Grade 11.

I have studied at Liaoyuan for nearly 2 years and our grade 11 students are going to graduate from Liaoyuan very soon. I have to say that Liaoyuan has given me a fantastic and wonderful school life in these 2 years. I am now going to introduce my great high school, Liaoyuan International high school, to you!

Before I came to Liaoyuan, I was a normal domestic student. I felt like I was a robot and I was a test robot. As we know, the domestic education system looks the score as the most important thing. The condition to get into a top high school was only the good score. So it's quite realistic that in order to get a high score, the students have to go having extra classes at weekends. Also in order to have a nice looking data of the students who goes into a top high school, the middle schools give more and more exercise and tests to ''help'' students. It's quite obvious that the students are getting more and more pressure and feel unhappier.

I know it very well because I have experienced it and I felt hopeless. The most unfair thing I felt was that the system uses one exam to decide your whole life. If you cannot get a good score in the high school entrance test then you cannot go to a top high school, and then you get a smaller chance to get in a top university. Every day in school is just practice and practice, we all know that our goal is to get in a better school and have a better life, however, there's actually nobody knows what we can or will do in the future. We do not have time to care about it and the teachers aren't care about it as well. That kind of life made me extremely depressed and disappointed. Although I did a quite good job in the high school entrance exams, I still choose the international education at last.

After I come to Liaoyuan, I feel my decision is so correct! In Liaoyuan, my life changes a lot. The school life is not only for the test score any more. My life became meaningful as well, not as before, every day is like a robot, no time for us to think, no time for us to play. I have found my life goals here and I will persue it. I have time to develop my own interests and hobbies.

It's very lucky that you can have a good teacher while you are a student, but I want to say that I have met many good teachers in Liaoyuan. In the past, I thought that the teachers are very serious and the only relation that between the students and the teachers is teach and learn. But after I met the Liaoyuan teachers, both the Chinese and the foreigner teachers, my old opinion was overturned completely. Whatever the academic problems or the personal problems, all the teachers are always glad to listen to you, give you advice and help you deal with them.

The classes are always very boring in the domestic schools; however, the Liaoyuan teachers always try their best to make the classes as fun as possible. The teachers combine the interesting review games with the boring knowledge together; learning things in this way not only help releasing the stress of studying, but also help the students learn much better because only if the students are happy while they are in school, they are able to do well and learn things more effective. I must say I am happy in Liaoyuan and I am willing to learn new things every day.

I learned how to work with different people together and the importance of teamwork in Liaoyuan. In the domestic schools, we hardly had the chance to work with the other people, even the classmates. We worked for ourselves to get a better score and we don’t care so much about the others. In Liaoyuan, we experience the western way to study. We have projects for all the subjects and we should work with different students. All the projects are huge work for one person, but it will not be too difficult to work with a group of people. So we need to think for ourselves. Usually the projects have a due time; we need to finish it before that date. In order to finish it, we need to plan ahead, all the group members need to have contributions because nobody want the group be marked down because he/she did a bad job. The projects not only develop our leadership skill, but also teach us the personal responsibility.

Lastly I would like to talk about the interesting events we have. In Liaoyuan, students are able to work and communicate with the other classes or even the students from another grade by a ‘house’ system. Besides the class time, we have all the events with other students. We have 6 houses and all the students are divided into different houses. We have different event once a week as well as the house meeting. Each house has its own room to have the meeting, usually we meet on Wednesday to have a house meeting together and the leaders will talk about the events with us. On Thursday, it’s our events day. All the students from different houses go to the place that the events are held to watch the games like the obstacles race, talent show, hot dog eating competition, and so on……I believe that the house system not only provides us a more colorful school life, but also gives us a chance to communicate with more people to make friends.

In Liaoyuan, we all take a great effort to achieve a brighter future. I love everything here in Liaoyuan. For the past two years, it gives me countless wonderful memories. I strongly feel that it’s a correct choice for being a student in Liaoyuan.[!--empirenews.page--]

Jenny Lee Class of 2015

Hi, my name is Jenny Lee. I come from Seoul, South Korea. I have been in Shanghai since 2011. Last month was my third year here. Time flies fast. I feel that Shanghai is my second hometown and sometimes I feel more comfortable here.

Now I am a 10th Grader in Liaoyuan International School and I would like to introduce my amazing school to you. I feel so lucky that I can study in this school. Before I came to Liaoyuan International School, I had a huge pressure when I thought about the school life. At the beginning of my life in Shanghai, I thought I could adapt school life easily. However, the situation was much harder than I thought. The school here is so different from Korea. It was so hard to join in and I always felt lonely.

Finally I found Liao Yuan International School. Actually, I promised to myself that if in this school I still cannot adapt, I will leave China and this is not my place. I didn’t expect anything from the school and I just wanted to graduate silently and everything could run well. What a big surprise I have ha d! It is much better than I expected! The classes make me want to learn more and more knowledge and the teachers are so different from who I have met before. I didn’t feel timid and they would not yell at me anymore. The classmates were also great and friendly. Now I can feel the sense of belonging. It’s one of the most important parts of my life. It doesn`t matter if you have good English or not and it also doesn`t matter what nationality you have. Your role here is a student and chances are fair for everyone.

Every student, who doesn`t live in English speaking countries, may be worried about their English. I was also worried about my English a lot when I decided to study in our school. The biggest worry was that “Can I follow their classes? If they ignore me because I can’t speak English well, what should I do?” However, I am overanxious. As I said before, our school is fair to everyone no matter what English level you are in. If you can speak English well, you must try to increase your English skills much more than before and if you cannot speak English well our school will help you from different aspects. Our school has an amazing curriculum of ESL course for the language and a variety of subject courses. Also, in Grade12, we will go to Canada for the last year and to reach our future and graduation. That is the best chance to everyone. So, I would consider our school as the best choice if you want to choose an international school.

Last but not least, I find my goal here! The goal is very important to everybody especially the high school students. Wherever they will go, they need goals for their future life. My school life helps me to find my goal and chase my dream. I am trying my best to achieve my goal, my university now!
