Liao Yuan International Division Tutoring Arrangement

Purpose of tutoring:

1、To help the slow learners catch up with others and meet the basic academic requirement.

2、To ensure fast learners get enough challenges and be better examples for others.

Common understandings on tutoring:

1、Tutoring is a must if we wish to ensure education quality.

2、Tutoring is a necessity to care about each individuals.

3、Teachers know better than anyone else about who need extra help or challenges.

4、Most students will be reluctant to take tutoring class. That does not mean we will not do tutoring. We are making difference on this point.

5、Communications and motivation are needed from teachers side to better encourage students. Make tutoring an extra help and an honor not a punishment.

Ways of doing tutoring:

1、In the normal class teaching, individualized instruction is one way of tutoring. Teachers, ideally, should try to ensure all students are following. Special concern has to be paid to those who are lagging behind or not challenged.

2、In your office hour, encourage your students to come to your office for questions.

3、In the tutorial hour: Tutoring will be scheduled on the day when a teacher has night duties. This is not mandatory. But teachers who do the tutoring in the required way as follows get extra pay.

1)Teachers have stable room and stable students, like formal instruction time.

2)The tutoring must be effective and beneficial for our students.

3)Teachers select his/her students. At least there should be two groups: slow learners and fast learners. List of the students can be changed monthly according to their progress. But within a month, the schedule and list of students should be stable.

4)Weekly tutoring in this period needs extra preparation. Teachers need to plan different learning assignments/tasks for different groups of students.

5)Tutoring is not teaching. It is more about pushing the slower learners and assigning more work for faster learners. Teachers are there to help as needed. Teachers then give necessary instruction according to students specific need.

6)PE teachers do not need to do tutoring for their subject, but they can help other teachers for academic tutoring as needed.
